Personal Favorite Film(s)

Hi,

as munich is finished by now, this thread gives you the opportunity to write a short summary of your impressions.
Your most/last favorite films - films that suprised, scared,
disappointed you…

My personal opinion (before seeing all the films) is, that the selection of movies this year is one of the best selection of the last years (well - or so it seems - i’ll write more next thursday when i have seen the films here in Stuttgart…)

Hi Folks!

After watching 15 Films on this year’s FaFiFe I have to say that for the first time since I visit the Festival there wasn’t even one Film I hated or I found really bad. (Perhaps I was just lucky with my selection  )
My top 3:

  1. Memento
  2. Down (I know, there are other opinions on this one)
  3. Donnie Darko

A film which was much better than I expected was Jason X (well I expected nothing  ) and I was quite disappointed by Pakt der Wölfe.

All in all i have to say it was a great Festival and I’m glad it’s over

Finally,

my personal favorites this year were (in no particular order):

  • Pakt der Woelfe
  • Amelie
  • Down
  • Jason
  • Memento

Worst disappointments were:

  • The Gift (done that, been there - nothing NEW!)
  • Bichunmoo (what was all this ABOUT???)
  • Sleepless (ok, now I know that there is NO reason for me to watch any Argento Movie again!)

summarizing i had much fun this year - location was fine - people were friendly - couldn’t be better

The best movie of the festival? Hands down AMELIE. Runners up strangely are JASON X and SPY KIDS, which I hadn’t expected.

On the other hand, films I was convinced would be great, such as JEEPERS CREEPERS, MEMENTO and BROTHERHOOD OF THE WOLVES were disappointments and mediocre to good at best.

The festival’s only real bad movie I’ve seen this year was ATLANTIS, which really sucked big time.

All in all just a little too many disappointments this year, but lots of nice movies worth your time and money. Stuff I hoped for, but hasn’t been part of the program was BATTLE ROYALE, VERSUS and maybe a preview of GHOSTS OF MARS… Let’s hope we’ll see all of them at Sitges this year.

My favorites this year were:

Donnie Darko - great acting, good story and superb soundtrack
Memento - backward storytelling made it work
The Gift - nice thriller
Series 7 - great parody of reality-TV but also disturbing because it seems like this could really happen…
Jeepers Creepers - had these shocking moments, where you want to shout: don’t do it!
